I remember Justy so well.  We were in Laverne Blisner's (?) School of Dance together and performed in several recitals in our glitzy costumes.  This must have been in elementary/junior high days.  In senior high I seem to remember being in homeroom with Justy, and having some good conversation and laughs every day.  He was a sweetheart of a person and it was such a shock to hear that he had plunged to his death off a cliff in Mexico (?) one summer, and was no longer with us.   Just looked through an old yearbook, and there he is with that beautiful smile.  Fondly remembered.

I certainly remember Justy with mixed emotions. I was with him when we went on a hike in Mexico. We were with girls from Wisconsin and had paired up. We came to a waterfall and he and his girl friend decided to climb to the top of the waterfall for a better view. He stood at the top with his girl friend taking his picture when he fell to his death. Needless to say, it was the shock of my life. Justy was just a great friendly guy with a touching smile.

I too was on that fateful trip to Mexico.  Sat with Justy on the plan to Mexico City.  We could hear Mr. Hampel talking to Justy's mom when he had to break the news.  He was a fun dude with a great smile.  Justy certainly added a lot to Mr. H's class!

I also was on that trip, and will never, ever forget that horrible day.  it was almost the first brush wth the finality of death for most of us (except, Hickson Jr. High, Stan Bodman), and we were all so very far away from our families.  I remember the sympathy of the community in Taxco, and the beautiful little church there, and how "magical realistic" the whole thing seemed to us.  Mr. Hampel was a fabulous leader, who pulled whatever victory was available from the jaws of defeat.

I am grateful so many classmates are remembering Justy.  He was just a handsome, smart, very nice person.  He would have grown to be a very fine adult.  I am glad we had him in our lives for a while.
