Vincent (Gene) Maurer

Retired after 44 years of teaching in Illinois and Missouri - Belleville West HS where I coached Varsity Golf for 25 years and undercalss Baseball. I was on the school board for 8 years(Board President 2 years) at Highmount School and was Assistant AD at Belleville West for the last 5 years. In 1995 I was inducted into the Illinois High School Golf Coaches Hall of Fame. I retired and moved to the Lee's Summit area. Shortly after arriving there I started my second educational job at Lee's Summit HS. I taught there for 10 years teaching special education. I have retired for good!! My wife, Joyce is from Belleville, Ill. She was an x-ray technologist and has worked for orthopaedic surgeons in both St.Louis and Kansas City. She has retired also. We married in 1977 and have two chidlren and 5 grandchildren. Our daughter currently lives in Fayetteville, NC. Our son, Adam, is living in Los Angeles and is pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. He is currently co-writing a screen play and looking for acting jobs. You can check him out on IMDB. He will be making an independent film in Dec 2016. Also, Adam's two children have also begun their acting careers and have done several TV and commercial ads.

In either 1957 or 58 the seniors carried a volkswagon up onto the 2nd floor of the Main Bldg. It created a huge stir and the administration was going crazy. Also won't forget having to walk shoulder to shoulder each spring before baseball practices to pick up broken bottles. I clearly remember working with Woody Lowery at the local hamburger joint and Woody eating everything in sight when the boss was at Kiwanis meetings on Wednesday nights. Can't forget going to Wayne Blann's house to hang out and hope his mom was making cinnamon rolls and watching his grandpa plow with a horse.
