In Memory

Ellen Endres (Spengemann)

Ellen Endres (Spengemann)

A beautiful classmate who gave her friendship and love to many; Ellen was a major player in planning our 50th reunion.  She was artistic and creative in bringing great joy to our Friday and Saturday events.  We miss her terribly.  She left us before we were readyand I know before she was but because of her, we will be better.

What a loss this is. A small group of us stayed close to Ellen after the reunion. We had great lunches and plans for trips together. She was such a gracious and generous friend. We had one of our lunches at the end of January and then she was gone four weeks later. I am so thankfull for our times together. These past months have been such fun. All this reminds us again to live every day to its fullest and let those with whom we are close know how much we care.

Like all of you, I have been thinking about Ellen.  For years, Ellen and I were part of a group of 6 or so girls who walked to school together in the morning.  The one farthest out would pick up the next, and on we'd go like little ants together along a trail.  Ellen's house was the last, and many mornings we were greeted at the door by her parents too.  What a good way to start each day with friends!

I remember in December of our junior year, Ellen went to Stix Baer & Fuller at Westroads and got a Christmastime job.  Her enthusiasm was so contagious, I had to march over there and get one, because she had.  In everything I saw Ellen do, she was always wonderfully enthusiastic, wonderfully outgoing.  For me, remembering Ellen this way will be a gift.
